The North East of England is a prime location for camping holidays and all manner of outdoorsy getaways. The majestic coastline, rolling hills and sleepy villages scattered across the region offer happy campers a chance to unplug, unwind and enjoy the British landscape in an oh-so-2020 socially distanced fashion.
If waking up in a sodden tent sounds like your idea of a nightmare and you prefer your camping trips with hot running water and Instagram-worthy accommodation, a North East glamping break may be more your style than traditional soggy-sleeping-bag camping.
Luckily for those of us who err on the side of high maintenance, there are some incredibly cool glamping sites in the North East of England that couples can escape to for a few precious nights of social isolation.
From quirky shepherds huts to romantic yurts, here’s a list of the most unique and best North East glamping spots.
Where to go glamping in North East England
1. A traditional Finnish Log Cabin in Felmoor Park, Northumberland
This pet-friendly, old-timey log cabin in Northumberland is the ideal place for a secluded woodland weekend with friends or family! The all-wood decor makes you feel like you’re someplace far away, which is a blessing for anyone who has suffered with serious travel withdrawal.
There’s a cosy verandah and a BBQ you can use to whip up feasts during your North East glamping break. You might even spot a deer passing by as you sip a sundowner in the private garden, which backs on to pure wilderness. Two well-behaved pets are welcome.

2. An Antique-Style Yurt near Hadrian’s Wall
Located in Northumberland within easy reach of Hadrian’s Wall, this spacious yurt has modern facilities, a large decking area and a separate bath and loo. There aren’t many glamping yurts in the North East, but this classically styled accommodation is the ideal place to escape to the countryside.
Embrace the area’s Roman heritage with a night around the campfire and see if you can spot any local wildlife in the two acres of land the yurt occupies. The central crown has a clear canopy so you can fall asleep beneath the stars. The site is just minutes from the Hadrian’s Wall Trail.

We’re from the US west coast. Sad to say we haven’t spent much time in New England. These look like so much fun though, especially the Hesleyside Huts!

Ahh, I love the northeast of England! One of my close friends lived in Newcastle for 10 years and we had so many adventures exploring the surrounding area! Loved Lindisfarne and Bamburgh Castle! Also another friend and I are currently in the process of booking a 7-day hike along Hadrian’s Wall, so I’m definitely checking out that yurt not far from the trail 😊

Wow I love camping but it wouldn’t take much to persuade me to glamp in one of these!!
