This is my review of Atlantica Nissaki Beach, a secluded adults-only TUI hotel in Corfu, Greece. Tom and I stayed there for seven nights on an all-inclusive basis for his 30th birthday and we were thoroughly impressed, which in itself is impressive because we certainly had high expectations for our first holiday abroad since late 2019.
We were hoping for a chilled-out getaway in a luxury hotel where we could enjoy great local food and lie at the pool all day looking at stunning views. My non-negotiables when it came to choosing a hotel were pretty interiors and no screaming kids in my vicinity. Tom just wanted a decent pool and an extensive cocktail menu. Both of us were very satisfied.
My review of TUI BLUE Atlantica Nissaki Beach in Corfu
If you’re looking for things to do while you’re in Corfu, check out this list of tours and activities you can book online in advance of your trip.
Nissaki Beach location
TUI BLUE Atlantica Beach Hotel is set in a secluded location on the beachfront in Gimari, which is about an hour’s drive from Corfu Town. The drive to and from the airport is very scenic as it’s a coastal route, so it feels like a shorter journey than it actually is.
The hotel is set into a steep cliff and surrounded by olive groves, making for stunning vistas.
If you want to walk to the local bus stop, you have to walk for around ten minutes up a very steep slope so I definitely wouldn’t recommend Nissaki Beach for anyone with mobility issues. I’m fit and healthy and I struggled in the midday heat! It was doable though, and it felt good to get moving during our indulgent week.
If you’re looking for a party hotel or want to go out every night to eat in different restaurants or crawl the bars, this isn’t the place for you. There’s very little within walking distance from Nissaki Beach – just one or two tavernas on the right of the hotel beach and another small beach a further walk away in the opposite direction.
We took the local bus to Corfu Town on day two of our stay. Later in our holiday, we hopped on the local bus to a fishing village called Kassiopi, where there were more bars, restaurants, shops and beaches to explore.
Its remoteness made this hotel ideal for us, but if I was staying for longer I’d probably need more within easy reach.
Nissaki Beach Hotel rooms
I upgraded to a full sea view from a partial sea view room and I’m very glad I did. Our room on the third floor looked straight over the pool bar and beyond to the Ionian Sea, with views of Albania on the horizon on clear days.
The room itself was clean and comfortable, with a fridge, robes, slippers, walk-in shower and a TV (not that we ever turned it on). The bed was massive and very comfortable. My favourite thing about the room was the balcony!
They’re only cleaning rooms every two days at the moment but I believe you can ask for fresh towels at reception if you need them.
Nissaki Beach Hotel facilities
I did plan to book some treatments at the hotel spa but I felt so blissfully relaxed by the end of our first day, the urge for a massage and a quiet lie down for an hour had evaporated.
There’s an exercise platform in the grounds of the hotel and you can book to take part in yoga, meditation and a variety of workout classes via the TUI app. They also have a large library section in the lobby, which I made full use of. Holidays are my best chance of finishing a book!
They offer a free daily shuttle bus but it gets booked up days in advance, which is why we stuck to the local buses. They were very cheap and you can get a timetable at reception.
Our favourite place for a sundowner was the vast balcony on the same floor as reception – it’s a floor or two above the beach and the views at dusk are just beautiful.
Pool at Nissaki Beach
I didn’t even pretend I was going to swim every morning, like I normally promise myself on holiday. The pool was quite cold! There’s one large pool and a smaller pool which is nice to sit in and chat.
Personally, I didn’t like the look of the swim-up rooms because they didn’t seem very private.
Beach at TUI BLUE Atlantica Nissaki Beach Hotel
I definitely recommend bringing sea shoes – like most of the beaches in Corfu, the beach at the hotel is full of stones that are painful to walk on in bare feet.
The beach is a narrow strip that runs along to the adjacent bars and restaurants (I think there were only two of them). It is kept clean and there are plenty of loungers, but you have to pay for them which I think is a bit unfair if you’re staying at the hotel, with it being all inclusive. Maybe they don’t own the loungers, I’m not sure. But you don’t get drinks served to your lounger either, so we didn’t bother to pay to sit there.
Bars and restaurants at Nissaki Beach Hotel
Breakfast at Nissaki Beach is served in the upstairs buffet restaurant. You can dine al fresco overlooking the sea which is just divine. Because of wasps, we preferred the covered seating areas at the sides of the restaurant as they have floor-to-ceiling windows so you can still enjoy the view. Plus, air conditioning.
The breakfast selection is good and there’s definitely something for everyone, but I’ve seen more impressive breakfast buffets if I’m honest. They only had smoked salmon every few days, which I thought was a bit stingy.
Lunch is served in the restaurant near the pool outside. The food was amazing quality and much tastier than other all-inclusive hotels I’ve stayed at in the past. I particularly loved the Greek-themed days, where you could get gyros and other delicious local delicacies. The service is decent – we never waited long for our drinks.
There is only one specialty restaurant at Nissaki Beach and you have to book well in advance, which is unfortunate. I’d liked to have eaten there more than once. It’s the same restaurant that’s used for lunch but you get a la carte service.
The evening buffet is very good – there were various themes for the week we were there, including Asian and seafood nights. We never had a bad meal.
There is a bar in the hotel lobby. When you get drinks there, you can either sit in the lobby or out on the balcony, which is beautiful a sunset.
The bar we used most was the one down by the pool – it had a partially covered seating area with serious Grecian vibes.
My favourite cocktail was the White Russian – it was the best in terms of presentation and tasted really strong.
Overall, our stay at TUI Atlantica Nissaki Beach was blissfully relaxed. We certainly weren’t in the thick of things, so if you’re keen to spend a lot of time in Corfu Town it wouldn’t be a suitable location. But for anyone looking to switch off and enjoy the sun, incredible views and delicious Greek cuisine, I’d recommend this hotel.
